Hello, I’m Niamh. Welcome to my blog!
My life after uni is a travel blog to document my travel experiences, give travel tips and provide itineraries to help other people travel.
The name ‘life after uni’ seemed most appropriate for my blog because my passion for traveling grew massively after finishing university. Finishing 3 years of university without a plan of my next step left me feeling very lost. I quit my job and decided to go traveling around South East Asia for 8 months and had the most incredible time! Traveling and planning itineraries became a big passion of mine, hence why I created this blog, to put all of my stories and everything I’ve learnt into one place.
Since coming back from my 8 month trip, I have started exploring the United Kingdom, my home country, more often. I have found so many lovely towns and trails around my home town and country which I will share here!
Why I travel
I enjoy traveling because it gives me so many eye opening experiences. I love meeting new people and learning about how the local people live and how they differ to me in beliefs and values.
As an anxious person, traveling has helped my confidence, constantly putting me in situations that are out of my comfort zone and learning to deal with that. Overcoming these little challenges makes you realize you’re far more capable than what you may believe.
My travel highlights:
- Hiking Mount Rinjani!
- Seeing a whale shark up close
- Celebrating Hari Raya with locals in Brunei
- Visiting a Cambodian school
- Being up close to an asian elephant
- Volunteering at a filipino animal shelter
The countries I’ve visited so far:
Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brunei, Cambodia, Croatia, England, France, Hungary, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, Vietnam, Wales
